Nuclear Engineer – Sensors

About the role

Radiant is seeking a motivated Nuclear Engineer to lead sensor and instrumentation solutions for its Kaleidos micro‑reactor. You will design, qualify, and integrate radiation detection and neutron flux monitoring systems in a fast‑paced startup environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, specify, and qualify in‑core and ex‑core detector systems (fission chambers, ion chambers, etc.) for neutron flux and radiation monitoring.
• Support detector response modeling using radiation transport codes (MCNP, OpenMC, Serpent) and verify performance against requirements.
• Evaluate sensor survivability under high‑temperature, high‑radiation, and accident‑condition environments.
• Integrate sensor outputs with reactor control and data acquisition systems.
• Assist verification & validation of instrumentation to meet customer and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering or equivalent.
• 1–2+ years of nuclear engineering experience with exposure to radiation detection or instrumentation.
• Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.

Required skills

• Radiation transport modeling (MCNP, OpenMC, Serpent).
• Programming in Python, C++, C#, or FORTRAN.
• Basic knowledge of thermal‑hydraulic principles.
