Non‑Certified Ophthalmic Assistant

About the role

The Non‑Certified Ophthalmic Assistant works in the Ophthalmology‑Integrated Surgical Institute at Strongsville Family Health & Surgery Center. Under the supervision of a licensed ophthalmologist, you will support vision‑care delivery, patient flow, and clinical documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and prepare patients for examinations or treatments, including performing initial ophthalmic testing and routine screenings.
• Assist physicians during examinations and procedures, document patient information in medical records, and handle clerical, stocking, and maintenance duties.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of direct patient‑care experience in an ophthalmic setting (formal education or training in ophthalmology may substitute for experience).
• Ability to lift up to 25 lb, stand or walk for extended periods, and maintain visual acuity and color discrimination.

Required skills

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficiency with office equipment and PC operation.
• Manual dexterity for operating ophthalmic testing equipment.
