About the role

The Non-Traditional Programs Advising Coordinator supports students enrolled in non‑traditional academic pathways at Athens Technical College. The role bridges Student Affairs and Academic Affairs, providing personalized guidance, outreach, and resources to help students succeed.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Student Affairs and Academic Affairs to outreach potential applicants for non‑traditional programs.
• Establish and maintain a follow‑up system for newly enrolled students.
• Provide individual academic advising, career exploration, job placement assistance, and support services.
• Create informational materials describing available services.
• Promote services through presentations to classes, student groups, and community organizations.
• Develop group activities and workshops to improve student retention.
• Train faculty on best practices for working with non‑traditional students.
• Monitor student progress with instructors and intervene when academic problems arise.
• Organize seminars on time management, study skills, goal setting, money management, and job search.
• Maintain a resource bank to aid student persistence and program completion.
• Respond professionally to inquiries from students and the public.
• Track, document, and report monthly on services, outreach, outcomes, and support activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• At least two years of relevant work experience (experience may substitute for the degree on a year‑for‑year basis).
• Preferred: three years of experience working with non‑traditional student programs.
