Night Shift Data Entry Clerk

About the role

Vanta Diagnostics seeks a detail‑oriented Data Entry Clerk to work the night shift at its Tampa laboratory. The role involves entering patient, physician, specimen, and billing information into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to support accurate and timely lab operations.

Key responsibilities

• Enter patient demographics, referring physician details, insurance and billing data into the LIS.
• Maintain high accuracy and productivity while meeting laboratory quality standards.
• Review requisitions for completeness and contact providers to resolve missing or unclear information.
• Interpret specimen site descriptions, clinical impressions, and diagnoses for correct LIS categorisation.
• Assign appropriate specimen topography and related laboratory data.
• Prepare and maintain required paperwork, reports, and supporting documentation.
• Provide backup support for specimen receiving and other clerical functions as needed.
• Follow all laboratory safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a clerical, administrative, medical billing, healthcare, laboratory, or data‑processing environment.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems or electronic medical records.
• Basic computer operations and word‑processing skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, and physiology.
• Understanding of quality‑assurance, client‑service, and laboratory safety practices.

Required skills

• Laboratory Information System (LIS) usage.
• Electronic Medical Records (EMR) familiarity.
• Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel).
• Typing speed of at least 60 words per minute.
• Operation of standard office equipment (copiers, scanners, calculators, multi‑line telephone).
