About the role
The New Roots Markets Internship supports the International Rescue Committee’s New Roots program, which connects refugees with community gardens and farm sites. As a marketing intern you will help promote farmers markets and CSA programs in the greater Salt Lake area while gaining hands‑on experience in outreach, training, and market operations.
Key responsibilities
- May‑June: Conduct outreach to customers in Salt Lake City and West Valley, create targeted marketing campaigns for Redwood Farmers Market and the weekly CSA vegetable box program, and assist in developing farmer training sessions.
- June‑October: Enter market data, maintain records, help farmers draft weekly vegetable lists and label produce, price CSA vegetables and allocate bags, and staff farmers markets in‑person during weekends and evenings.
Required profile
- Solutions‑driven, passionate change‑maker with a strong interest in nonprofit agriculture initiatives.
- Available to work 15‑20 hours per week from May 11 to October 20, including weekends and some evenings.
- Ability to collaborate with the New Roots Market Coordinator and the broader market team.
