Network & Systems Intern - Summer 2027

About the role

Hy-Vee's Information Technology department offers a paid summer internship (Summer 2027) focused on updating its existing infrastructure. The internship runs Monday through Friday, from mid-May to mid-August, with travel and overnight stays, and selected candidates work up to, and possibly beyond, 40 hours per week. Travel expenses are reimbursed.

Key responsibilities

• Work with Active Directory, networking, and the staging and deployment of workstations.
• Perform maintenance tasks and software updates.
• Complete required maintenance tasks on network system devices.
• Troubleshoot issues and communicate them clearly with supporting staff.

Required profile

• Working toward, or recently acquired, a degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Software Engineering or another technical program.
• Strong computer and analytical skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to solve practical problems, interpret instructions, and handle multiple tasks at once.
• Ability to perform light work of up to 20 pounds occasionally, with normal vision and color vision.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of network devices such as switches, firewalls and routers.
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware and peripherals.
• Basic knowledge of imaging and applying updates to servers and workstations.
• Basic knowledge of a scripting language, such as Bash or PowerShell.
