Network Engineer Intern - Summer 2027

About the role

CACI is looking for a Network Engineering intern for its Summer 2027 session, working 32 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks. The intern supports a CACI program with the Department of War on enterprise network modernization. The internship is 100% in the office at the High Point, NC location, with up to 25% travel within the continental US.

Key responsibilities

• Assist an engineering team in designing and supporting network modernization solutions across the project life cycle
• Complete a network engineering intern group project simulating customer network environments
• Oversee the completion of tasks under the direction of a senior engineer
• Conduct research and gather data to support project decisions
• Identify risks, roadblocks and opportunities for process improvement
• Provide general support to the engineering team as required
• Deliver a final summary presentation on projects and experience to the division; select interns may also present to headquarters leaders

Required profile

• Graduating high school senior with demonstrated academic achievement and technical aptitude
• Currently enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate program in a relevant field
• Able to obtain and maintain security clearance where applicable
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
• CompTIA Security+ certification required, held or actively pursued with completion expected before the internship starts
• Preferred: engineering, computer science, cybersecurity or related degree; minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred; military or government experience preferred

Required skills

• Background in data network communications coursework
• Basic knowledge of data networks and computer operations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Preferred: technical knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, Aruba
