Native American Education Student Ambassador

About the role

The Fremont County School District #25 in Riverton, Wyoming, is hiring a part-time Native American Education Student Ambassador. The ambassador assists the Native American Education team in giving staff and students opportunities to learn about Native American culture, history and experiences, supporting Native American Education efforts in the district. The position reports to the Native American Education Director and is based at Riverton High School/Central Office.

Key responsibilities

• Develop individual and panel presentations for staff, students and the community about their education experiences.
• Take part in planning Native American Education initiatives.
• Facilitate activities for youth during Native American Education Parent Meetings.
• Support staff in carrying out activities and events outside school hours.
• Take part in research projects on Native American history, language and culture.
• Provide peer-mentor support to Native American students.
• Serve on the Title VI - Indian Parent Committee.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Junior or senior in high school.
• Ability to work alone for short periods and in a team environment.
• Ability to report to work at several FCSD#25 locations.
• Maintain consistent academic eligibility.
• Integrity, professionalism and a demeanor that reflects well on the school district.
• Local, state and federal criminal background clearance required.

Required skills

• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret policies, regulations, safety rules and procedure manuals, and to write routine correspondence.
• Self-motivated, responsible, and able to multitask and manage time effectively.

What we offer

• Pay of $16 per hour under the approved temporary salary schedule.
• Terms of employment determined by the supervisor.
