National Transportation Director

About the role

The National Transportation Director provides strategic and tactical leadership for a medical waste organization’s nationwide transport function. Reporting to senior leadership, this role partners with Business Unit Transport Managers to drive safety, compliance, and cost‑effective fleet operations across the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a national transport strategy aligned with corporate growth objectives.
• Design strategic fleet and infrastructure plans, manage capital expenditures, and standardize operations across business units.
• Lead safety culture initiatives, ensuring compliance with all transport regulations.
• Optimize route planning, fleet utilization, and establish transport KPIs to improve performance.
• Mentor and coach transport teams, including drivers and Business Unit Transport Managers.
• Identify and implement fleet and routing improvements to enhance delivery‑in‑full‑on‑time (DIFOT) metrics.
• Collaborate with Sales, Plant, and Operational Excellence teams to align capacity with new business opportunities.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in national transportation or logistics management.
• Strong track record of developing and executing fleet strategies and capital projects.
• Demonstrated ability to drive safety, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills across multiple business functions.
