About the role

The Multi Trades Supervisor II leads the community maintenance program for residential facilities at the University of Maryland, overseeing daily work plans, preventative maintenance, and a team of front‑line staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assign, supervise, and evaluate daily maintenance activities for 7+ employees.
• Plan and execute preventative maintenance programs across residence halls and other facilities.
• Maintain and repair a wide range of equipment, including electronics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and safety standards while working on ladders, scaffolding, and in hazardous environments.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Seven years of progressively responsible trade experience, including at least four years in a supervisory role.
• Valid Maryland non‑commercial Class C driver’s license with fewer than 6 points.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally, and to train both skilled and unskilled staff.

Required skills

• Knowledge of electronics, hydraulics, and mechanics as applied to maintenance work.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Understanding of OSHA regulations related to mechanical trades.
• Basic mathematics for calculations involving area, volume, weight, and ratios.
