Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician (Various Levels)

About the role

The Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician works on a multi‑disciplinary team to provide operations and maintenance support for all building systems on the University of North Alabama campus. Four levels (I‑IV) are available, and candidates will be placed in the appropriate level based on experience and qualifications.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair commercial equipment involving electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance activities on campus facilities.
• Enter, track, and complete work orders using the computerized maintenance system.
• For MCMT IV: lead and assign work to lower‑level technicians, report on major projects, and fill in for absent supervisors.
• Assist other trades and perform special project duties as requested.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade degree or three years of related experience.
• Level‑specific experience: MCMT I – 3 years; MCMT II – 3‑5 years; MCMT III/IV – 5+ years with supervisory experience for IV.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, vendors, and the public.
• Proven safety record and ability to work with minimal supervision.
