Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician supports reliability and performance of recycling and processing equipment by performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on shredders, grinders, conveyors, balers, extrusion systems and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components such as gearboxes, bearings, chains, belts, pumps and motors.
• Diagnose and repair electrical systems up to 480V, including motors, VFDs, PLC‑controlled systems and control panels.
• Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints and technical manuals.
• Perform welding and light fabrication (MIG, TIG, Stick) as needed.
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including cylinders, valves and compressors.
• Support installation, commissioning and upgrades of new equipment.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED; technical or trade school certification preferred.
• 3–5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing, plastics, recycling or related industry.
• Experience in plastics processing or recycling operations is a plus.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime or weekends.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb and work in a noisy, dusty, hot environment.

Required skills

• Mechanical troubleshooting of gearboxes, bearings, belts, pumps and motors.
• Electrical troubleshooting up to 480 V, including motors, VFDs and PLCs (Allen‑Bradley preferred).
• Welding (MIG, TIG, Stick) and light fabrication.
• Hydraulic and pneumatic system maintenance.
• Use of precision measurement tools.
