Mid-Level Software Engineer – Real-time Trading Platform

About the role

Topstep is seeking a mid‑level software engineer to help build and maintain the core services that power its real‑time trading platform. You will work on cloud‑native .NET services, market‑data delivery, and brokerage integrations that support thousands of active traders handling real money.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and ship features for backend services and APIs that enable core trading functionality.
• Own the full lifecycle of your features, from design through deployment and production monitoring.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate business requirements into reliable technical solutions.
• Write clean, well‑tested C#/.NET code with a focus on performance and reliability.
• Participate in on‑call rotations, respond to incidents, and improve observability through metrics and logging.
• Contribute occasional front‑end work using React and TypeScript when feature scope requires.
• Engage in code reviews, bug fixing, refactoring, and performance tuning.
• Document solutions and share knowledge within the engineering team.

Required profile

• 3–4 years of professional software engineering experience delivering production features.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and a desire to take increasing ownership of systems.
• Effective communication skills and experience working in agile, iterative environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and integrating services.
• Solid understanding of SQL databases and basic schema design.
• Ability to write automated tests and apply testing best practices.
• Familiarity with debugging production issues.
• Exposure to React and TypeScript for front‑end contributions.
