Metrology Technician

About the role

Excelitas Technologies is seeking a Metrology Technician to perform optical fabrication processes and precision inspections on components and assemblies in its Boulder, CO facility.

Key responsibilities

• Perform dimensional, cosmetic, optical, and mechanical inspections using approved methods and equipment.
• Conduct in‑process, final, first‑article, receiving, and special inspections as required.
• Operate and maintain precision metrology tools such as vision systems, interferometers, microscopes, optical comparators, laser‑based measurement systems, calipers, micrometers, and profilometers.
• Document inspection results, measurement data, and product disposition in electronic systems.
• Identify and escalate non‑conforming materials, maintain cleanroom and safety standards, and follow laser safety procedures.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, production, and quality teams to support product and process improvements.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures.
• Ability to perform repetitive inspection tasks with high accuracy.
• Basic computer skills for data entry.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• U.S. person status (ITAR compliance); visa sponsorship not available.

Required skills

• Experience with interferometers.
• Experience with vision inspection systems.
• Experience with microscopes and optical comparators.
• Proficiency using calipers, micrometers, and profilometers.
• Familiarity with laser‑based measurement equipment and safety protocols.
