Mental Health Technician Trainee

About the role

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is hiring a Mental Health Technician Trainee at the Fox Developmental Center in Dwight, Illinois. The trainee receives instruction and training in providing care for individuals with developmental disabilities for a period of six to twelve months, and then takes part in active treatment and habilitation services.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in providing active treatment and habilitation services for individuals.
• Escort individuals and take part in training them in residential, social or vocational activities, both at the Fox Center and in other designated locations.
• Perform light housekeeping to keep the living environment clean, safe, comfortable and sanitary, such as spot mopping, cleaning spills, wiping tables, removing trash, securing supplies and equipment, and making beds.
• Lift up to 50 pounds.

Required profile

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the State does not provide visa sponsorship.
• Bilingual skills are welcome.
• A resume or curriculum vitae is recommended but not required.
• Proof of higher education must be verified by the Department of Human Services before an offer can be made.

What we offer

• Anticipated salary of $4,272 to $5,641 per month ($51,264 to $67,692 per year).
• Full-time, salaried position; the vacancy is a union position covered by the collective bargaining agreement.
