Mental Health Counselor

About the role

The Office of Counseling Services at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore seeks a full‑time, grant‑funded Mental Health Counselor. Reporting to the Director of the University Counseling Center, you will provide culturally competent assessments, crisis intervention, case management, and therapeutic services to students.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments, triage appointments, and crisis interventions.
• Provide solution‑focused individual therapy, group therapy, and conflict‑resolution strategies.
• Develop, plan, and present psycho‑educational workshops and wellness programming.
• Collaborate with campus departments such as Athletics, Student Engagement, Residence Life, and Student Health to coordinate resources and events.
• Market prevention and wellness programs in partnership with community organizations.
• Participate in on‑call after‑hours service, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related clinical field.
• At least one year of post‑graduate clinical experience.
• Experience working with transitional‑age adults.
