Men's Assistant Club Hockey Coach

About the role

The Assistant Coach supports the Men's Club Ice Hockey program at Northeastern University, working under the Associate Director of Club Sports and Head Coach. The role focuses on player development, safety, and coordination of practices and games.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and improve participant sport skills by creating drills and running practices for skaters and goalies.
• Attend and supervise the majority of games and practices, including evenings and weekends (1–3 games per weekend, 2 night practices per week).
• Communicate with the Associate Director on travel, injuries, equipment, and administrative tasks; submit weekly timesheets.
• Ensure safety of all participants, monitor playing conditions, and complete injury reports within 24 hours.
• Collaborate with club officers to set team goals and support student leaders in administrative responsibilities.

Required profile

• Prior coaching experience at varsity high school level or higher (preferred).
• Competitive playing experience at collegiate or professional level (preferred).
• Strong communication, accountability, adaptability, and organizational skills.
• Availability for evening practices, home and away games, and off‑campus travel.

Required skills

• Knowledge of USA Hockey and ACHA rules and regulations.
• Ability to design drills and run effective practices for both skaters and goalies.
