About the role
Experience Senior Living is looking for a Memory Care Server to create a safe, welcoming and person-centered dining experience for residents living with memory loss. The position is full-time.
Key responsibilities
- Learn and honor each resident's routines, preferences, abilities and dining needs, using clear, simple communication, visual prompts and positive redirection.
- Attend pre-meal stand-ups to review resident preferences, allergies, diet orders, texture modifications, seating plans and other service instructions.
- Set tables and prepare the dining room to ESL standards, present menu choices and take, verify and deliver food and beverage orders.
- Confirm each resident's identity and follow approved diet, allergy, texture, portion and beverage instructions.
- Provide meal setup, opening containers, cutting food and cueing; offer hands-on feeding only when trained, authorized and in line with the resident's service plan.
- Monitor the dining environment for signs of choking, distress or a change in intake and notify the Wellness team immediately.
- Follow memory care safety and supervision procedures, report unsafe conditions or missing residents, and clean and sanitize tables, chairs, menus, floors and equipment.
- Communicate resident preferences and changes in eating or drinking patterns to the Executive Chef and Wellness team, assist with special events and theme meals, and maintain confidentiality.
Required profile
- Basic reading, writing and math skills.
- Patient, empathetic and flexible, with a genuine interest in serving older adults living with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia.
- Ability to recognize and report changes in resident behavior, intake or ability to eat safely.
- Ability to work varied schedules, including weekends, evenings and holidays.
- Ability to complete required memory care, food safety and resident safety training within set timeframes.
- Prior restaurant, senior living, healthcare or memory care experience is preferred but not required.
Required skills
- Strong communication, listening, teamwork and time-management skills.
- Ability to stay calm and respectful with residents who may have difficulty expressing needs.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities while keeping resident safety and service quality in focus.
What we offer
- Pay of $18.00-$19.00.
- Medical, dental, vision, STD/LTD, life and voluntary life insurance.
- 401k with employer matching, paid holidays and up to 20 days PTO in the first three years.
