Member of Technical Staff (AI Agent Engineer)

About the role

We are building the future of audit with AI‑powered agents at Modus. As a Member of Technical Staff you will join a small, execution‑focused engineering team to design, build, and ship production‑grade AI agents that automate document parsing, financial verification, and end‑to‑end audit workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI agents that extract entities from documents, cross‑check financial data, and complete audit processes.
• Work across the full stack, from Python back‑end services and vector stores to browser‑based automation and internal tooling.
• Iterate quickly on MVPs, ship production versions, and continuously improve them based on real‑world feedback.
• Evaluate emerging AI frameworks, LLM tools, and best practices, integrating them into the platform.
• Collaborate directly with early customers and founders to deliver tangible outcomes.
• Contribute to building a strong engineering culture and best‑in‑class development processes.

Required profile

• Strong builder mindset with end‑to‑end ownership of features.
• Proven ability to ship AI, infrastructure, or backend components rapidly.
• Interest or experience with large language models, retrieval‑augmented generation, agent frameworks, browser automation, or document parsing.
• Bias for action, comfort debugging in production, and learning from real usage.
• Willingness to take on any task, from writing scrapers to deploying servers and interacting with customers.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Experience with LLM pipelines, vector stores, or related AI infrastructure.
• Familiarity with browser automation tools.
• Understanding of document parsing and entity extraction.
