Medical Technologist – Lead (UHealth Labs)

About the role

The University of Miami's UHealth Laboratories is seeking a Medical Technologist – Lead to perform advanced microbiological, molecular, and immunological testing while guiding a team of technologists.

Key responsibilities

• Verify specimen identification, prepare samples, and handle them safely.
• Perform and interpret complex microbiology, molecular biology, and immunology tests.
• Research patient data and forward results to pathologists for sign‑out.
• Calibrate equipment, manage supplies, and maintain inventory.
• Identify test inconsistencies, take corrective actions, and support colleagues.
• Conduct quality‑control tests and record data accurately.
• Act as lead, providing mentorship and serving as a resource for staff.
• Orient and train new employees on laboratory techniques and operations.
• Follow university policies and protect institutional assets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Valid State of Florida Medical Technologist license.
• Strong learning agility, teamwork, and communication skills.
