Medical Technologist II – Immunology & Histocompatibility

About the role

The University of Miami UHealth Laboratories is seeking a Medical Technologist II specialized in Immunology and Histocompatibility. The incumbent will perform microbiological, molecular biological and immunological tests on patient specimens to support diagnosis and treatment decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Verify specimen identification against physician orders, prepare and handle specimens safely.
• Perform and interpret microbiological, molecular and immunological assays, flagging abnormal results for review.
• Compile patient data and forward test results to pathologists for sign‑out.
• Calibrate laboratory equipment, manage inventory, and order supplies as needed.
• Identify test inconsistencies, take corrective actions, and assist coworkers in problem resolution.
• Conduct quality‑control tests and maintain accurate records.
• Participate in training and orientation of new laboratory staff.
• Adhere to university policies, safeguard assets, and follow safety protocols.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Current Florida Medical Technologist license.
• Minimum two years of experience performing immunology, histocompatibility, microbiology, or molecular biology testing.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, and discretion with confidential information.
• Willingness to work evenings, nights, and weekends as required.
