Medical Technologist II – Clinical Laboratory

About the role

The University of Miami Health Laboratories is seeking a full‑time Medical Technologist II to join its Blood Bank Operations Department in Miami, FL. The technologist will perform a variety of microbiological, molecular, and immunological assays on patient specimens to support diagnosis and treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Verify specimen identification, prepare samples, and handle them safely.
• Conduct microbiology, molecular biology, and immunology tests, interpreting abnormal results.
• Provide patient data to pathologists for evaluation and sign‑out.
• Calibrate equipment, manage inventory, and order supplies.
• Perform quality‑control tests and document results.
• Assist in training new laboratory staff.
• Execute routine pre‑transfusion testing, antibody identification, and blood component preparation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Current Florida State Medical Technologist License in Immunohematology.
• Minimum two years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
