About the role
The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Pathology is seeking a full‑time Medical Technologist I to join its laboratory team. The incumbent will perform routine and complex analyses of blood, urine, and other bodily fluids, supporting patient care and research.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare cultures of tissue samples and examine slides using microscopy.
- Establish and monitor programs that ensure data accuracy.
- Cross‑match blood for transfusions and analyze urine chemically for toxic components.
- Collect and study blood samples to determine morphology.
- Evaluate laboratory reports for accuracy and deliver results to physicians, researchers, and patients.
- Operate, calibrate, and safeguard laboratory equipment.
- Identify unusual results, take corrective action, and adhere to university policies.
Required profile
- Associate degree in a relevant field.
- Valid State of Florida Medical Technologist license.
- Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
