Medical Technologist 3 – UHealth Labs

About the role

The University of Miami’s UHealth Laboratories is seeking a full‑time Medical Technologist 3 to perform complex microbiological, molecular biological and immunological testing on patient specimens. The role supports diagnosis and treatment decisions while ensuring quality assurance and instrument maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Verify specimen identification, prepare samples, and handle them safely.
• Perform and interpret complex microbiology, molecular biology and immunology tests.
• Research and compile patient data, forwarding results to pathologists for sign‑out.
• Calibrate laboratory equipment, order supplies, and maintain inventory.
• Identify test inconsistencies, take corrective actions, and assist coworkers in problem resolution.
• Conduct quality‑control tests and record data according to procedures.
• Follow university and departmental policies, safeguarding assets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Minimum three years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Valid State of Florida Medical Technologist license.
• Ability to learn new procedures and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
