Medical Technologist 2 – UHealth Labs Transition

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Pathology seeks a full‑time Medical Technologist 2 to perform microbiological, molecular and immunological testing on patient specimens. The role supports diagnosis and treatment decisions while ensuring laboratory quality and equipment reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Verify specimen identification against physician orders and prepare samples safely.
• Conduct microbiology, molecular biology and immunology assays, analyze results and flag abnormal findings.
• Document and communicate patient data and test outcomes to pathologists for sign‑out.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments, manage inventory and order supplies.
• Perform quality‑control tests, record data and take corrective actions when inconsistencies arise.
• Assist in training new staff on laboratory techniques and procedures.
• Follow university policies, safeguard assets and adhere to safety standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Minimum two years of experience performing clinical laboratory tests.
• Valid State of Florida Medical Technologist license.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
