Medical Technologist 2 – Per Diem

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a Per Diem Medical Technologist 2 to perform microbiological, molecular biological, and immunological testing on patient specimens. The incumbent will support diagnosis and treatment decisions while ensuring laboratory quality and instrument reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Verify specimen identification, prepare samples, and handle them safely.
• Conduct microbiological, molecular and immunological assays and interpret abnormal results.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment; order supplies and manage inventory.
• Perform quality‑control tests, record data, and address test inconsistencies.
• Collaborate with pathologists, provide patient data, and assist in result sign‑out.
• Support and train laboratory staff on techniques and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Current Florida Medical Technologist license.
• Minimum two years of clinical laboratory experience.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and teamwork orientation.
