Medical Technologist 2 – 2nd Shift (2:00 pm‑10:30 pm)

About the role

The University of Miami UHealth Laboratories is seeking a full‑time Medical Technologist 2 to work the second shift (2:00 pm‑10:30 pm) in the UTower Hospital. The technologist will perform microbiological, molecular biological and immunological tests on patient specimens to support diagnosis and treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Verify specimen identification against physician orders and prepare specimens safely for analysis.
• Perform and interpret microbiology, molecular biology and immunology assays, flagging abnormal results for review.
• Calibrate laboratory equipment, maintain inventory, and order supplies as needed.
• Conduct quality‑control tests, record data, and address test inconsistencies.
• Assist pathologists by providing patient data and test results for sign‑out.
• Train and orient new laboratory staff on techniques and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Current Florida Medical Technologist license.
• Minimum two years of laboratory experience performing microbiological, molecular or immunological testing.
• Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends as required.
