Medical Intelligence Operations Analyst

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Medical Intelligence Operations Analyst for the US PACOM Command Surgeon's Decision Support Team (DST). As the team's senior medical-intelligence specialist, the Analyst is the primary interface with the US PACOM J2 intelligence enterprise on biosurveillance and related threats, assessing foreign medical capabilities, emerging diseases, biological threats, biosecurity and biosafety. The position sits in the PACOM Joint Intelligence Operations Center (JIOC), supports the Command Surgeon (J07), receives priorities from J07 through contract channels, has technical oversight from the Science and Technology Division (S&T) - J85, and reports administratively to the Amentum Project Lead.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze worldwide health, medical, biological, biosecurity and biosafety issues affecting the US PACOM area of responsibility.
• Assess foreign medical capabilities, emerging diseases, biological warfare and bioterrorism threats, and scientific and technological developments.
• Fuse classified intelligence, medical reporting, scientific research, public-health data, open sources and partner reporting.
• Identify indicators, trends, anomalies, intelligence gaps and implications for force health, readiness and mission risk.
• Maintain awareness of US PACOM plans and operations, and forecast their medical-intelligence implications.
• Serve as the DST interface with J2, DIA, the National Center for Medical Intelligence and other Intelligence Community organizations.
• Produce assessments and briefings meeting analytic standards, classification requirements and dissemination controls.
• Provide findings to the Operations Planner for integration with epidemiology, CBRNE analysis, Force Health Protection and operational plans.
• Take part in intelligence exchanges, working groups, exercises and bilateral or multilateral biosurveillance activities.
• Test the Biosurveillance Information Platform and give intelligence-specific findings for Military Utility Assessments.
• Translate user needs into requirements for technical feeds, dashboards, alerts and workflows; coding is not required.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, intelligence training, military education and directly related experience.
• Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to complete a polygraph if required; US citizenship is required for a Top-Secret clearance.
• At least 8 years of progressively responsible intelligence analysis, including at least 2 years of medical intelligence analysis.
• Medical-intelligence experience covering health threats, foreign medical capabilities, emerging diseases, biological threats or scientific and technical intelligence.
• Preferred: advanced degree, medical-intelligence experience in the last 5 years, and a background in medicine, biology, epidemiology, public health or microbiology.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of DIA analytic tradecraft, product standards, Intelligence Community Directives 203 and 206, and ICD 203 and ICD 206.
• Ability to fuse medical, scientific and intelligence information into products for senior Department of War leaders.
• Familiarity with military planning and with J2, J3/JOC, J07 and J85 structures.
• Preferred: MIDB/MARS or comparable database experience, biosafety (BSL-3/BSL-4) and biosurveillance platform familiarity, and knowledge of Indo-Pacific adversaries' science and technology modernization.
