Medical Collector (Remote – Doral)

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Central Business Office is seeking a full‑time Medical Collector to manage patient account collections remotely while supporting the Miami, FL campus. The role ensures timely, compliant collection of receivables and coordinates with patients and insurers.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate resolution of patient accounts and verify demographic and insurance information.
• Review and monitor reimbursements, determine collection methods, and follow‑up on accounts.
• Contact insurance carriers, document work performed, and safeguard receipt of payments.
• Prepare monthly accounts receivable reports and related items.
• Review benefit explanations, request adjustments or refunds when applicable.
• Identify trends or issues with payors and report findings to supervisors.
• Respond to phone and in‑person inquiries from patients and insurance carriers.
• Adhere to university policies, procedures, and asset safeguards.

Required profile

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in collections or billing.
• General knowledge of office procedures and operations.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in completing assignments.
• Understanding of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles.
