Medical Claims & Collections Specialist (eClinicalWorks | AR)

About the role

This is a remote Medical Claims & Collections Specialist position focused on following up on outstanding medical insurance claims, appealing denials, resolving billing issues and collecting payments in line with payer policies and contracts. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM PST, with a 30-minute unpaid break.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and work aged insurance claims to ensure timely reimbursement
• Contact insurance companies to follow up on unpaid or denied claims
• Submit corrected claims and appeals as needed
• Identify and resolve billing discrepancies and issues with denied claims
• Maintain accurate notes and updates in the billing system
• Meet monthly collection goals and productivity standards
• Collaborate with internal billing and coding teams to resolve claim issues
• Stay up to date with payer requirements and industry regulations

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or claims collections
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail and time management
• High-speed internet and a quiet, private workspace

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS codes
• Familiarity with EOBs, remittance advice and insurance guidelines (CalOptima, Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payers)
• Experience with billing software (eClinicalWorks)
