Medical Assistant - Northside Family Medical Center

About the role

A Medical Assistant is sought to join the ASAS Health team at Northside Family Medical Center. The role focuses on quality of care and customer service, working closely with clinical staff to support direct patient services. It acts as a point of contact with internal and external departments to promote patient comfort and trust.

Key responsibilities

• Review and update patient records before visits and virtual visits (telehealth), including recent test and lab results and correspondence.
• Clean exam rooms between patients and keep supplies stocked, following infection control standards.
• Greet patients, direct them to the right room, and take weight, height, temperature, blood pressure and basic medical history, documenting accurately.
• Provide initial medical screening and alert the physician or mid-level provider when the patient is ready.
• Assist physicians and mid-level providers during examinations and help restock rooms, shelves and trays.

Required profile

• High school graduate (or GED) required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish and other languages strongly preferred.
• Valid Texas driver's license preferred, along with insurance and the ability to travel as required.
• Willingness to cross-train within the scope of duties and to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills

• Excellent communication skills for taking medical histories and documenting patient information.
• Working knowledge of Universal Precautions and confidentiality under HIPAA.
• Current, valid Medical Assistant certification preferred; new hires without it must obtain it within 90 days, with up to $250 reimbursed for exam and training materials.
• Current, valid CPR certification preferred.
