About the role

The Department of Surgery at the University of Miami is seeking a full‑time Medical Assistant 3 to provide direct patient care on site in Miami. Working under the supervision of a licensed physician, the MA will support clinical procedures and ensure a compassionate, culturally‑competent environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist medical providers with multi‑skilled clinical tasks and patient management.
• Perform hands‑on patient care while adhering to regulatory requirements, institutional policies, and evidence‑based standards.
• Recognize and respond to emergencies, maintaining professionalism and ethical practice.
• Document patient interactions accurately and communicate clearly with patients, families, and the care team.
• Collaborate with the Nurse Manager, charge nurse, or designated designee to ensure safe delivery of care.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• Experience in a clinical or surgical setting, capable of working under direct physician supervision.
• Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to respect patients' spiritual beliefs and practices.
• Strong communication skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks safely and professionally.
• Commitment to ethical, legal, and professional standards of practice.
