Medical Assistant 1 – Full‑time, On‑site

About the role

The Department of Human Genetics is seeking a full‑time Medical Assistant 1 to work on‑site at the Biomedical Research Building in Miami, FL. The MA will perform multi‑skilled tasks to assist medical providers and support patients’ healthcare management and clinical procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Assist providers with physical examinations by preparing exam rooms with proper supplies and instruments.
• Perform vital signs, EKG, phlebotomy and document findings in the patient’s medical record.
• Clean and sterilize medical instruments while observing sterile technique.
• Schedule patients for tests, complete required laboratory forms, and maintain accurate patient records.
• Order, stock, and inventory supplies and assist with clerical duties.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.
• Active or pending MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, etc.) and Basic Life Support certification.
• No prior experience required; commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and technical proficiency with office software and clinical documentation systems.
