About the role

The Medical Assistant (MA) 1 provides hands‑on patient care and supports medical providers in a university health setting. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed physician, the MA ensures clinical procedures are performed safely, ethically, and in accordance with evidence‑based standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist physicians and nurses with patient examinations, procedures, and documentation.
• Deliver culturally competent care, respecting patients' spiritual beliefs and personal preferences.
• Monitor and uphold regulatory requirements, institutional policies, and quality‑of‑care standards.
• Recognize and respond to emergencies, escalating to appropriate clinical staff as needed.
• Collaborate with Nurse Managers, Charge Nurses, and unit designees to ensure safe delivery of care.
