About the role
The Medical Assistant (MA) 1 provides hands‑on patient care and supports medical providers in a university health setting. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed physician, the MA ensures clinical procedures are performed safely, ethically, and in accordance with evidence‑based standards.
Key responsibilities
- Assist physicians and nurses with patient examinations, procedures, and documentation.
- Deliver culturally competent care, respecting patients' spiritual beliefs and personal preferences.
- Monitor and uphold regulatory requirements, institutional policies, and quality‑of‑care standards.
- Recognize and respond to emergencies, escalating to appropriate clinical staff as needed.
- Collaborate with Nurse Managers, Charge Nurses, and unit designees to ensure safe delivery of care.
Required profile
- Demonstrated compassion and professionalism in patient interactions.
- Ability to work effectively under physician supervision and follow delegated tasks.
- Strong communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Commitment to ethical and legal standards of medical practice.
- Willingness to contribute to a positive team environment and participate in unit meetings.
