About the role
The International Rescue Committee is seeking a motivated intern to support the Preferred Communities program. This unpaid position focuses on Medicaid billing research and analysis of case‑management impact on healthcare utilization across the United States.
Key responsibilities
- Research and map Medicaid billing opportunities for Preferred Communities sites in multiple states.
- Collect and organize data on state Medicaid processes and eligibility criteria.
- Analyze financial and systems‑level effects of case‑management services, especially reductions in emergency‑room visits.
- Prepare standalone literature reviews and final reports for each research component.
- Collaborate closely with the Preferred Communities team to ensure findings are actionable.
Required profile
- Current student or recent graduate interested in public‑health policy, health economics, or social services.
- Strong analytical mindset with ability to synthesize complex information.
- Excellent written communication skills for producing clear reports.
- Interest in Medicaid systems and community‑based health programs.
