Med Tech (Certified) - Medication Technician

About the role

Monarch Communities is hiring a Certified Medication Technician (Med Tech) in New Rochelle, reporting to the Director of Health & Wellness. This is a non-exempt, hourly position at $23 per hour. The full-time schedule is Sunday to Thursday, 3pm to 11pm, and the part-time schedule is Friday and Saturday, 7am to 3pm. The role provides quality care and services to residents and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the administration of prescribed medications to residents according to their care plan and physician's orders
• Maintain related medical records under the supervision of the RN and/or LPN
• Complete required annual medication training
• Provide resident care so that care needs are met according to the care plan
• Maintain accurate, complete medical records and written documentation in line with federal and state regulations, certification standards and legal and ethical standards
• Maintain the comfort, privacy and dignity of residents
• Observe and report changes in residents' physical condition, cognition and emotional status to the supervisor

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least six months of experience working with seniors in personal care, home health, hospital or long-term care
• Ability to work weekends and holidays
• Able to lift or carry up to 50 lbs and use proper body mechanics

Required skills

• Medication Technician training completed and passing periodic competency testing
• Ability to administer medication in accordance with state regulations
• Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA policies
• Strong communication skills
