Mechanical/Process Engineer Internship – Reedsville, PA

About the role

Philips is offering a paid internship for students pursuing a degree in engineering. You will gain hands‑on experience in a HealthTech environment, supporting ultrasound transducer R&D and learning about regulated medical device development.

Key responsibilities

• Support mechanical design and process improvement for ultrasound transducer R&D, including tooling, fixtures, prototype builds, test setups, and documentation updates.
• Assist with design‑build‑test activities by creating prototypes, executing experiments, collecting data, analyzing results, and summarizing recommendations.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders across mechanical, process, manufacturing, quality, materials, acoustic, electrical, and systems engineering.
• Contribute to process robustness, manufacturability, and quality improvement through root‑cause analysis, process characterization, work instructions, and verification activities.
• Gain practical experience in medical device engineering, technical documentation, and problem solving under the guidance of experienced mentors.

Required profile

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Biomedical, Engineering Science, or a related technical field.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, hands‑on problem‑solving, data analysis, technical documentation, and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
• Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or Creo is preferred.
• Completed coursework, projects, internships, co‑ops, research, or lab work involving mechanical design, manufacturing processes, materials, testing, or process improvement.
