Mechanical Systems Engineer

About the role

Moog is seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer to join its Military Aircraft Group in Torrance, CA. The role focuses on developing next‑generation hydraulic and electromechanical actuation systems for flight control and weapons bay applications, supporting the full product lifecycle from concept to qualification.

Key responsibilities

• Support development, integration, and verification of advanced hydraulic and electromechanical actuation systems.
• Translate customer and system needs into clear, traceable engineering requirements.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams across Moog sites to drive product development.
• Develop verification strategies, requirements‑traceability documentation, and qualification plans.
• Create and execute test plans, analyze results, and produce technical reports and presentations.
• Assist with system integration, troubleshooting, and root‑cause investigations.
• Present technical information to internal stakeholders and customers.
• Travel 5‑15% to Moog and customer locations within the United States.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.
• 3+ years of engineering experience, preferably in aerospace or defense product development.
• Experience with one or more phases of the product development lifecycle.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
