Mechanical Supervising Discipline Engineer 2

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Mechanical Supervising Discipline Engineer to join a team of engineering and design personnel supporting projects from its Englewood, CO office. The position is open to candidates who can work remotely, provided they have excellent communication and time management skills. The engineer manages discipline engineering to meet customer and project requirements for scope, scheduling and budgets, and acts as a liaison between discipline engineers and project managers.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the discipline's engineering with other disciplines and maintain discipline records and documents.
• Ensure engineering documents comply with state laws and regulations, including affixing the registered engineer seal when required.
• Assign preparers and checkers for discipline specifications and coordinate review of external specifications.
• Establish schedules and budgets, obtain approval, and advise the Project Engineering Manager on schedule, budget, delays and problems.
• Maintain technical coordination with the Principal Engineer on codes, regulations and sound engineering practice.
• Prepare and submit periodic reports and forecasts on discipline status, and lead manpower, man-hour and labor cost estimates.
• Lead estimating for the discipline, manage performance and mentoring, and help develop training programs and sessions.
• Assist projects with technical issues and build positive relationships with peers and other organizations.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• At least 10 years of design engineering experience, including plant design engineering in a highly regulated environment.
• Professional Engineering license; client projects require US citizenship.
• Ability to design custom equipment and containment systems, write fabrication drawings, engineering analyses and material selection specifications.
• Good oral and written communication, organization and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel).
• Intermediate knowledge of a specific discipline and understanding of others.
• Preferred: familiarity with specifications for large process facilities, pumps, heat exchangers, vessels, high-temperature equipment and HVAC sizing.
