Mechanical Maintenance Technician IV

About the role

Amentum is seeking an advanced Mechanical Maintenance Technician IV for its 2nd shift Facility Maintenance team in Mossville, Illinois. The typical schedule is 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and hours may vary with business demand. The technician provides advanced expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting and delivering preventive and corrective maintenance on the mechanical equipment and systems of an industrial manufacturing facility.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems, pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems, conveyors and overhead cranes
• Service ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, chillers, rooftop AHUs, split systems, compressors, refrigeration, boilers and HVAC equipment
• Perform welding and fabrication, including custom fixtures, brackets and one-off parts, and maintain welders
• Repair commercial doors, heat exchange equipment and perform basic pipefitting repairs
• Work safely with 3-phase power up to 480V and troubleshoot basic electrical issues
• Carry out preventive maintenance inspections and actions such as lubrication, cleaning and filter changes, and run scheduled maintenance in the CMMS
• Provide service and feedback to customers on work orders and follow codes, regulations and industry standards
• Follow safety procedures such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout, wear PPE, and operate measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments

Required profile

• Five years of experience performing mechanical maintenance in an industrial environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to work in an aerial or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher
• Ability to lift regularly to 50 lbs, climb ladders and stairs frequently, and walk extensively through the plant
• Must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test; a valid driver's license and security access badge may be required
• No sponsorship for U.S. work authorization; overtime, weekends, holidays and alternative schedules are required

Preferred qualifications

• Associate's degree or technical certification in industrial mechanical, HVAC or related facility maintenance
• Welding certification and experience with MIG, TIG and arc welding
• Experience with preventive maintenance, pipefitting, welding, fabrication, millwright work, plumbing and electrical troubleshooting
• Experience in a CMMS environment
