Mechanical Inspector & Plans Examiner

About the role

CAP Government, Inc., on behalf of Bureau Veritas, is seeking an immediate hire of a licensed Mechanical Plans Examiner and Inspector to provide inspection and plan‑review services for construction projects in Miami Beach, Florida. The role involves interpreting regulations, reviewing building blueprints, product approvals, shop drawings and other project documents, with occasional travel for on‑site inspections.

Key responsibilities

• Examine building permit applications, including blueprints, specifications, surveys, product approvals and shop drawings for compliance with the Florida Building Code and related regulations.
• Prepare written and electronic reports, issue notices of correction, and maintain all required records.
• Identify, evaluate and resolve unique technical problems that arise during plan review.
• Meet with design professionals, contractors and other stakeholders to discuss code issues and provide guidance.
• Conduct on‑site inspections of buildings and facilities to verify compliance with the Florida Building Code.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager.

Required profile

• State of Florida Plan Review License (PX) or State of Florida Inspector License (BN) in building, or ICC Residential & Commercial Plans Examiner certification.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Florida Building Code and ability to interpret and apply code requirements.
• Professional demeanor, technical and industry experience, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
