Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Red Metals is building its first copper processing and refining plant in Charleston, South Carolina. The Mechanical Engineer will take process concepts from first‑principles design through commissioning and into full production, owning performance, reliability and output.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build mechanical systems, create equipment specifications, layouts and fabrication drawings.
• Integrate mechanical equipment across the flowsheet and work closely with chemical and controls engineers.
• Commission mechanical systems on the plant floor, troubleshoot, and define maintenance procedures, inspection intervals and reliability KPIs.
• Analyze equipment data to drive improvements in yield, quality and throughput.
• Interface with vendors, fabricators and contractors to execute projects quickly.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• 3‑8+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in metals, mining, refining or heavy industry.
• Proven ability to take mechanical systems from design into real operation and work on an industrial plant floor.
• Comfortable making sound decisions with incomplete information and driving outcomes across functions.
