Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Airbus U.S. Space & Defense seeks a Mechanical Engineer to drive mechanical design and integration for the Final Assembly Line (FAL) of satellite and defense hardware. The role bridges design engineering and production, ensuring hardware meets specifications, quality standards, and production capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Support development and implementation of mechanical design strategies for the FAL, aligning flight hardware integration with design specs and capacity requirements.
• Serve as technical owner of all Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE), monitoring performance, maintenance, and ROI.
• Lead investigations and Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) to resolve mechanical non‑conformances and anomalies on the assembly line.
• Propose data‑driven MGSE solutions and process improvements to enhance production performance.
• Provide technical guidance on workstation, GSE, and process optimization.
• Act as liaison between mechanical design engineering and production, ensuring design‑to‑manufacturing principles are applied.
• Mentor peers, support team growth, and assist production engineers and technicians on flight hardware manufacturing.
• Maintain expertise in manufacturing processes, satellite configurations, work instructions, and non‑conformance handling.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical engineering within aerospace, defense, or space manufacturing environments.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to conduct mechanical analyses and improve system performance.
• Demonstrated leadership in guiding cross‑functional teams and mentoring junior engineers.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and quality excellence.
