Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Terabase Energy is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its fast‑paced team in Woodland/Davis, CA. You will work on the design, prototyping, and field validation of mechanical systems that improve the efficiency of utility‑scale solar plant installations.

Key responsibilities

• Support concept development, detailed design, and installation of new or modified mechanical components.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models and 2D drawings, applying GD&T and tolerance analyses.
• Iterate designs for performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability in collaboration with cross‑functional engineers.
• Conduct design analyses, bench testing, and structured test plans to validate prototypes.
• Drive product development from concept through prototype builds, field testing, drawing release, and supplier coordination.
• Participate in design reviews, communicate risks and trade‑offs, and incorporate feedback quickly.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve manufacturability or quality issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in mechanical design, product development, mechatronics, automation, robotics, or related industrial equipment (internships/co‑ops count).
• Proficiency in CAD software, preferably SolidWorks, with solid understanding of GD&T.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as sheet metal forming, machining, casting, weldments, and injection molding.
