Mechanical Design Engineer II

About the role

Fluor is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer II to support project teams by delivering cost‑effective engineering solutions and ensuring compliance with specifications and standards. The role involves technical analysis, equipment specification, and collaboration with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Apply cost‑competitive execution techniques to develop total project solutions.
• Develop and review design specifications and criteria.
• Participate in equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting activities.
• Perform and verify calculations, specify equipment, and solve moderate to complex engineering problems.
• Review vendor documentation for compliance and resolve discrepancies.
• Analyze problems and provide independent recommendations aligned with project objectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Accredited four‑year engineering degree (or global equivalent).
• Minimum four years of relevant work experience.
• Professional registration preferred.
• Strong communication skills with internal and external audiences.
• Ability to apply local, state/province, and federal regulations.
• Detail‑oriented and able to work efficiently under time constraints.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards.
• Practical field experience in mechanical design.
• Intermediate proficiency with word processing, email, and spreadsheet applications.
