Mechanic I – Industrial Maintenance

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanic I to join BASF’s Catalyst division at the Attapulgus, GA plant. The role provides mechanical maintenance and repair support for industrial equipment in a safety‑first environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of plant machinery, including centrifugal pumps, gearboxes, fans, and filter belts.
• Perform overhauls and repairs on rotating equipment and special process equipment.
• Fabricate, assemble, weld, cut, and pipe‑fit components as needed.
• Use hand tools, torque wrenches, lasers, and measuring devices to ensure precision maintenance.
• Inspect completed work for quality and dimensional compliance.
• Participate in on‑call rotations covering day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least 5 years of industrial mechanic experience, OR an Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Willingness to work on‑call schedules, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and carry up to 25 lb.
• Familiarity with mechanical rotating equipment systems and pipefitting.
