Meat Cutter

About the role

The Meat Cutter is responsible for preparing, packaging, and labeling meat products in a retail environment while adhering to company quality and health standards. The role ensures that all meat items are stored, displayed, and rotated correctly to maintain freshness and safety for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, pack, and label meat products according to standard operating procedures.
• Store daily inventory in designated areas and ensure proper chilling for next‑day display.
• Maintain product displays, rotate stock, verify expiration dates, and remove improperly wrapped items.
• Oversee usage, maintenance, and sanitation of cutting machines and department equipment.
• Control daily fat content in ground meat and ensure accurate pricing.
• Conduct daily and weekly physical inventory checks and provide accurate data to auditors.
• Submit daily reports of discarded items and handle special member orders.
• Uphold health, safety, and hygiene standards in the meat department.

Required profile

• High School Diploma, GED, or Trade School degree (preferred).
• Minimum two years of meat‑cutting experience, preferably in a retail setting.
• Fresh meat cutting experience is required.
• Health and food‑handling certification preferred.
• Effective communication skills in English and/or Spanish (verbal and written).
• Strong customer‑service orientation.
