Mathematics Tutor (part-time)

About the role

LSU Eunice is seeking a part‑time Mathematics Tutor to support freshman and sophomore students in the Mathematics Tutoring Center. The role involves one‑on‑one assistance with pre‑algebra through applied college algebra topics and guidance on online homework platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individual tutoring for students enrolled in Pre‑Algebra, Introductory Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, or Applied College Algebra.
• Assist students with signing in/out of the laboratory and using online platforms such as myLSUE, myCourses, and MyMathLab.
• Maintain academic integrity during assessments and manage passwords for lab computers.
• Oversee daily laboratory operations, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure equipment is functional.
• Schedule operating hours, train student assistants, and track usage data.
• Communicate with the Dean of the Division of Sciences and Mathematics regarding workload and potential problems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a related field from a regionally accredited institution, with coursework in College Algebra and Trigonometry.
• Experience working with high‑school or higher‑education students; current bachelor’s students who have passed Algebra and Trigonometry may apply.
• Availability between 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, up to 30 hours per week.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MyMathLab.
• Familiarity with myLSUE and myCourses platforms.
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and assist students at desks.
