Math Teacher (Grades 9-12)

About the role

St. Mark's School in Southborough, MA is hiring a full-time Math Teacher for a yearly, 10-month contract starting in August 2027. The school is a boarding institution that wants to inspire students to think deeply about mathematics, and the teacher will act as mentor, advisor and co-creator of learning within a close-knit community.

Key responsibilities

• Teach four sections of mathematics across grades 9-12.
• Design engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons for a diverse group of learners and give timely, meaningful feedback.
• Collaborate with department colleagues on curriculum development, course design and teaching practices.
• Serve as advisor and mentor, supporting students academically and personally.
• Lead two seasons of co-curricular activities, supervise students during residential evenings and take part in weekend programs.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, physics, engineering or a related field.
• Secondary school teaching experience, with two or more years preferred.
• Ability to teach a range of courses from geometry through calculus, with potential to teach advanced electives.
• Deep understanding of mathematics, able to make complex concepts accessible to high school students.
• Willingness to work with adolescents with warmth, empathy and high expectations.

What we offer

• Salary of $43,500 - $85,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
