Math and Science Tutor for TRIO Student Support Services

About the role

The TRIO Student Support Services program seeks a dedicated Math and Science Tutor to support undergraduate students at the University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College. The tutor will provide one‑on‑one and small‑group instruction in basic mathematics through college algebra and in biology and physical science courses.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver tutoring sessions in math (up to college algebra) and science (biology, physical science).
• Assist students with time‑management, goal‑setting, learning‑style strategies, and use of Blackboard and library resources.
• Conduct pre‑ and post‑assessment activities for classes.
• Maintain a clean tutor lab in accordance with CDC guidelines before and after sessions.
• Document individual student progress and keep accurate attendance records.
• Notify the supervisor in advance of any absences and perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in education, mathematics, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Two or more years of college‑level teaching experience preferred.
• Experience developing curriculum is a plus.
• Ability to use basic computer applications relevant to a college environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Blackboard learning management system.
